Dhemaji, India: A “fun”tastic journey for all

February 1st to 7th, 2015: 7 days, 8 child sponsors, 1 team of World Vision staff and the whole Dhemaji ADP (Area Development Programme) community.

Our team visited the Dhemaji ADP in Assam, India. I only started child sponsorship last August 2014 and when I got the chance to visit, I immediately grabbed the opportunity. I didn’t know what to expect, all I know is that I’m going to meet my sponsored child and spend a few moments with him.

That’s it. But I’m in awe.

Being there really took my breath away. It was a “fun”tastic journey for all of us. “Amazeballs!” I would say in modern slang.

Fun because we met people who shared the same cause as me; to help develop and uplift the lives of the underprivileged. Fun because we collaborated with modern day heroes who were doing ordinary things in an extraordinary way. Fun because we interacted with the community and saw all the progress that has been done for the past years. Fun because we got to interact with our sponsored children, saw their smiles of joy and excitement, and shared our beautiful lives with each other. Fun because the journey made me realise that I shouldn’t be satisfied with whatever help I am extending now because I know I can do more.

World Vision’s aim is to transform lives.

I would say not only of the sponsored children and the community, but also of the child sponsors.
