School Meals for Children

Every day, children in vulnerable communities go to school on an empty stomach. School meals are their only reliable meal of the day.
When hunger follows children into classroom, it makes them too weak to learn and to keep up. Overtime, it can push them out of school too soon, especially girls. School meals give children a reason to show up, again and again.
With your support we seek to provide 1,000 children in Cambodia and Zambia with school meals.
A school meal does more than fill hungry stomachs.
- Prevents malnutrition and provides the nutrients a growing child needs
- Improves school attendance, supports concentration and makes learning possible
- Eases the pressure on families already stretched by rising food costs
- Prevents a child from dropping out and becoming a daily-wage labourer
- Protects a girl from becoming a bride too soon
The impact of school meals also goes beyond the child. As school meals are prepared using locally sourced ingredients supporting farmers and local food systems, it creates jobs, strengthens livelihoods and builds more resilient communities.
