Typhoon Yagi Recovery - Rebuilding Homes

Over 283,573 homes throughout Vietnam were severely affected by Typhoon Yagi, destroyed, damaged, or rendered uninhabitable by landslides, roof collapses, and flooding. Months after Typhoon Yagi—the strongest storm to hit Vietnam on land in 70 years and part of the country’s frequent typhoon cycle—many of the most vulnerable families remain displaced and live in temporary shelters, or continue to live in unsafe homes made structurally hazardous by the storm. In Thanh Hoa province, poverty severely limits the ability of the most vulnerable to recover from the long-term impacts of Typhoon Yagi and rebuild their homes, leaving children and families exposed to repeated loss and danger. Without external help, rebuilding can take years, deepening their suffering and putting their lives at greater risk of future floods, landslides, and typhoons.

World Vision seeks to rebuild disaster-resilient houses for the most vulnerable families in Thanh Hoa province affected by Typhoon Yagi. Each house requires approximately SGD 9,854 to be reconstructed to withstand future storms and floods, ensuring safe protection for children and families from natural disasters.
