World Vision describes itself as a Christian organisation. What does this mean?

World Vision is a registered charity organisation in Singapore focused on children. We are inspired by Christian values and seek for our work to be our testimony to the example of Jesus Christ. First, it means that we want to follow the example of Jesus in caring for the poor and the hungry, and in challenging the rich. Jesus healed the blind, the lame and leper, all outcasts in his day, and called the rich man to give up his wealth and follow him.

Do World Vision Projects create dependence on outside resources?

No. Community development projects are designed to be sustainable with locally available resources, technology, materials and leadership. Families and individuals share in project leadership, responsibilities and activities from the start and are well equipped and motivated to continue in these roles when World Vision ends its direct involvement in a community.

The Joy & Stars in Kenya - A Tripper's Reflection
Our trip was both enlightening and a stark reminder that the world was not created equal. We saw first-hand how World Vision’s Area Programme Vision of holistic transformation was put into action. Not only was there a programme to provide access to education to children, there were also separate initiatives on child protection, micro-financing, health and food security, provision of clean water, and environmental protection. The multi-faceted approach clearly lifted the lives of the community, and we were privileged to see it in motion.
