How does the flip of the power dynamics happen through Chosen®?

Submitted by 000209669 on

Chosen® invites you to put the power of choice in the hands of the child, flipping the traditional selection dynamics. It sets the tone from the start and is a tangible manifestation that children can (and should) have choices in life. It emphasises that they have the power to choose what their life can become. Additionally, it gives children a greater contribution in the process as they have more ownership in the decision-making process.

What is Chosen® and how does it work?

Chosen® is a new invitation to child sponsorship where a child chooses his/her sponsor. You (the sponsor) can select a photo from your photo library and submit it online on our Chosen® webpage.

Your photo and name will then be sent to an Area Development Programme (ADP) where World Vision works and a child from that ADP will make their choice. Once the choice is made, you will receive a photo of the child and a personal letter from the child sharing why you were chosen.

Is evangelism a part of World Vision’s projects?

Submitted by 000209669 on

World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy agency, not an evangelistic agency. We do not demand that people hear any religious message or convert to Christianity before, during or after receiving assistance. Our primary concern is to help the world’s poorest achieve a better standard of living, by working with them to transform their circumstances. Our focus is to respond to human need, and our compassion and professionalism reflect our faith.

World Vision describes itself as a Christian organisation. What does this mean?

Submitted by 000209669 on

We are inspired by Christian values and seek for our work to be our testimony to the example of Jesus Christ. First, it means that we want to follow the example of Jesus in caring for the poor and the hungry, and in challenging the rich. Jesus healed the blind, the lame and leper, all outcasts in his day, and called the rich man to give up his wealth and follow him. Second, it means that we seek to uphold Christian standards of integrity and propriety in the way in which we handle our resources and our staff.
