It has been an enriching and impactful 8 days with World Vision on this sponsors trip to Vietnam. The team comprised of 15 like-minded Singaporeans. 3 of us started the 1st 2 days in Hanoi city and visited Blue Dragon, a World Vision's partner whose primary mission involves arduous work of rescuing street children in Hanoi.

Hwa Chong One Day Without Shoes (ODWS) 2015 was an advocacy cum fundraising campaign in Hwa Chong Institution (College), successfully held on May 21. Through Hwa Chong ODWS 2015, we sought to raise awareness about the plight of the poverty-stricken in Africa, consisting of men, women, and children who barely have enough money to buy food, let alone shoes.

I have always lived a privileged life; I have a loving family, attend a good school and have great friends. I have always known about poverty but have never seen or experienced it first hand; I never felt obliged to help others until recently.

World Vision is mobilising staff and resources to assist communities impacted by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which hit Nepal today, Saturday April 25th. At this time there are reports of around 700 deaths. Aftershocks are continuing.

Last weekend, a category 5 storm, Cyclone Pam, pounded the islands of Vanuatu with heavy rain and winds. World Vision has started distribution of pre-positioned kits of shelter materials, hygiene supplies, and kitchen/cooking sets.
