Bohol is located in the heart of Central Visayas. The main source of income of the population is farming and fishing. Due to the lack of access to financial services, inadequate infrastructure, climate change and low prices for their produce, families face challenges to make a living. Children drop out of school to work. 10% of households have no sanitary toilet facilities. Many families lack access to basic safe water supply, leading to water-borne diseases being the number one cause of illness in the community.

Through Child Sponsorship, you can help enable children in Bohol to stay in school, grow up healthy and look ahead to a brighter future.

“I only washed my hands when it was dirty because of limited access to clean water. But after the proper handwashing orientation, I have learnt that it is important to wash my hands properly and regularly to prevent diseases.”
