Sambour is located in Kratie province in Cambodia along the Mekong River. Majority of the population are farmers whose livelihoods are often affected due to high occurrences of floods and droughts. 43.6% of the children are underdeveloped due to lack of nutritional knowledge. The location of the community along the river poses a challenge for children to attend school. With poor school infrastructure and low quality of education, 55% of adolescents drop out of school in their early grades.

Through Child Sponsorship, you can help children stay in school, grow up healthy, and build a brighter future.

“It deeply pained my heart to know that in today's world, many vulnerable families are still struggling to survive without clean water, inadequate food, no proper housing infrastructure, lack of educational support and limited access to healthcare services. We heard stories from villagers who had to fetch untreated water from the Mekong River daily, children who had to walk at least an hour to get to school, and the sick ones who had to travel across water and land to get to the Health Centre. Nonetheless, the locals were not discouraged by the harsh conditions of living as they remained hopeful for a better tomorrow.”

“Other mothers in my village and I lacked knowledge in raising and feeding our children. We fed our babies porridge before they turned 6 months old, which led them to get diarrhoea and throat infection. Since World Vision came in, my community and I have gained knowledge on how to feed our children with nutritious and age-appropriate foods. Thanks to World Vision for teaching us how to care for our children. I have witnessed how the children in my community are growing healthy and strong now”.
