Wheelchair and mobility devices for 20 children with disabilities

Approximately 80% of children with disabilities in China live in the rural areas where specialised support and services can be difficult to access. Without equipment suited to their individual needs, children may face barriers to move safely, attend school, play, learn and participate in everyday life.

The right assistive equipment can make a meaningful difference. Depending on each child’s needs, the aid devices for the children can include a nursing bed, wheelchair, walking aid, companion bed, supportive chair, orthopaedic shoes or cognitive learning cards. These resources can support mobility, posture, rest, rehabilitation and cognitive development, helping children participate more fully at home, in school and in their communities.

For families, the equipment can also ease the physical demands of daily caregiving and give parents greater confidence in supporting their child.

This gift will equip 20 children with disabilities in the rural areas of Jiangxi in China with appropriate assistive resources, opening pathways to greater comfort, dignity, participation and independence.
