1 bicycle for a child to commute to school

Before the sun has fully risen, a child is already walking, often for hours, along unsafe roads or isolated paths just to reach a classroom. In rural communities in Cambodia, this is simply the only way to school, 3 to 10 km one way, on foot, day after day. Over time, the exhaustion catches up: focus fades, grades slip, and eventually, some children stop attending school altogether.

A bicycle can change a child's education journey, turning an exhausting multi-hour trek into a short, manageable ride, cutting commute time by up to 75%. There's energy left for lessons, and time to just be a kid. Grades improve, attendance climbs, and for girls especially, a bicycle can be the very thing that keeps a dream alive. We seek to support 800 children with bicycles for their schooling journeys so that they can attend school regularly and continue their education.
