Provide Life-Saving Aid to Children and Families Caught in Disaster

Devastating flash floods tore through Rasuwa and Nuwakot in north Nepal, along the Nepal-Tibet border on 26 August 2026, claiming more than 300 lives, with hundreds still missing. 

Homes bridges and critical infrastructure were washed away in an instant, displacing families and cutting communities off from electricity, communication and essential services.

The destruction of homes and livelihoods is expected to result in food insecurity, disrupt children’s education and increase their exposure to displacement, psychosocial distress and protection risks. Search, rescue and damage assessments are ongoing as authorities determine the full scale of the disaster.

 

World Vision’s Emergency Response

World Vision is responding to reach approximately 5,000 people affected by the flash floods with emergency food assistance, shelter kits, hygiene kits, dignity kits and essential support for pregnant and breastfeeding women. 

World Vision has previously served the communities in the affected area following the 2015 earthquake. We are working closely with local authorities and partners to provide urgent humanitarian aid and relief to those affected.
