Nutrition support for 150 pregnant and lactating women

South Sudan’s hunger crisis is deepening, intensified by conflict, economic hardship and the arrival of more than a million refugees and returnees fleeing the conflict in neighbouring Sudan, putting further pressure on already scarce food and essential resources. Pregnant and breastfeeding women face heightened risks, as inadequate nutrition can endanger their own health, affect their babies’ development and make it harder to provide the nourishment their newborns need. Without adequate nourishment, a mother has insufficient nutrients to support the growth of the baby during pregnancy and reduced breast-milk supply for her newborn.
