Seeing Hope Firsthand: My First World Vision Trip to Bohol

This was my first experience joining a World Vision trip to Bohol Philippines, and it was truly incredible. It was an extraordinary and emotional journey that allowed me to better understand the responsibility and impact of child sponsorship.
On the first day, we visited the water tank that had been built at Kauswagan Elementary School. As child sponsors, it was encouraging to see how donations are being used to support education and provide clean water for the community. The water tank has improved access to water for bathing, cooking, and drinking, benefiting many families and children.

Later in the evening, we visited a family living in a small hut, about the size of an HDB master bedroom. Their entire daily life—cooking, eating, and sleeping—takes place within that limited space. It was difficult to imagine the challenges they face. There was no electricity, no proper bathroom, and the living conditions were extremely poor. It was heartbreaking to witness their reality firsthand.

On the second day, we visited Hinlayagan Elementary School. We spent quality time with the children, making paper flowers together. Their laughter, curiosity, excitement, and enthusiasm warmed our hearts. The children were smart, diligent, and eager to learn. Much credit goes to the dedicated teachers who serve the children and their families with passion and commitment.

We also had the opportunity to meet a group of young leaders who were once sponsored children themselves. They shared how sponsorship had transformed their lives by giving them access to education and opportunities for a better future. Their stories deeply touched and inspired me.

From this trip, I witnessed the contribution from child sponsorship is indeed changing lives and creating hope for children and families in need.
Today, I would like to encourage everyone to continue making a difference. Whether through sponsorship, donations, or simply supporting the mission, every small contribution matters. If you are new to World Vision, I encourage you to step forward and join us in creating a better world for children and communities in need.
