Philippines, Antique: A Simple Delight
Every afternoon, when 10-year-old Mark* returns home from school, he will eagerly help to feed the goat World Vision provided his family. “We plan to breed the goat and sell it,” he says. “This can help our family to support our schooling.”
Mark lives with his mother and three siblings in a simple bamboo house. His father is a labourer who only returns home every December. As the family struggled to make ends meet, Mark worried that he could no longer attend school. Now, with the additional income from goat-rearing, he is delighted to be able to continue school!
Visit Antique with us and meet children who live simple contented lives. Witness how child sponsorship has transformed the lives of children like Mark and the communities they live in. Learn about organic farming, quail farming and sustainable fishing efforts from the ground up. Find out how World Vision’s efforts improve literacy among children, empower poor families with livelihood opportunities, and provide hope for a better life!
Yeat's life was transformed when he was sponsored under World Vision's Child Sponsorship Programme. He was so happy to be able to go back to school to live out his dreams.
"I have always been inspired by World Vision staff, now I dream to graduate university and be a teacher!"
World Vision has also provided basic necessities like easier access to clean water and proper sanitation hygiene lessons, so children do not fall sick as often as they used to.
However, there is still more to be done to ensure that families like Yeat's will be empowered with skills to live a hopeful and bright future. Many children in Cambodia still suffer from hunger and poverty, deprived of opportunities to live out their dreams. Come meet them and share your love to these children!
