Ruyan, 8, lives with her elderly grandparents, and only meets her parents twice a year. “I miss them very much, but I understand that they need to work to help us survive,” she shares wistfully. Ruyan is one of the many left-behind children in China, where rapid rural-urban migration is happening.
As left-behind children receive less attention from their family, it is common for them to encounter difficulties expressing their feelings, having good judgement and knowing how to protect themselves. Through child sponsorship, World Vision can build child-friendly spaces to provide safe spaces for children to play, learn, and experience more love by interacting with others.
Join us on a trip to China, Yaozhou, as we meet these children who have chosen to rise above their circumstances, and learn more about how World Vision is working with their community to improve livelihoods and living conditions.
