World Vision Ambassadors

World Vision welcomes the vocal support of all people in our collaborative efforts to build a better world for children. Listed below are people in the public eye who are working with us to raise awareness and encourage action on behalf of children living in extreme poverty.

Many of these individuals are connected with special projects or initiatives with World Vision. The diversity of their voices and the range of their influence help World Vision bring attention to many crises and conditions created or worsened by extreme poverty.

Victor Wong (黄品冠)- World Vision Singapore Goodwill Ambassador 2007

“Poverty is a serious and complex issue around the world. More often than ever, we simply take things for granted and do not realize how blessed we are. It is astonishing to know during my Thailand trip with World Vision, how the price of a cup of gourmet coffee could well equate into a month’s income for a needy family.

My heart dropped, as with the child’s family, knowing that some of the children we interacted during the trip are infected with HIV/AIDS and would not live beyond their teens. Poverty also stripped some families bare and we’ve seen how they live together under shabby and dilapidated conditions. It was also heart wrenching for me to see and discover in particular, how street children need to prostitute themselves in order to survive.

It gladdens my heart to know and see the various activities and programs that World Vision is doing to help the needy children and families. ”

Jaymee Ong - World Vision Singapore Goodwill Ambassador 2007

“We are really lucky to be living in Singapore and that makes it all the more important for us to know that there are people living in variousparts of the world who have difficulties trying to survive. I’ve seen children (on trip with World Vision) living without shoes and shelter and making the streets their home.

Despite the adversities, the children’s smiles are the best ones I’ve seen for the longest time. Its really heartening to know that there are organizations like World Vision who are helping the people improve their lives through education and income generating opportunities.”

RAIN - World Vision HIV/AIDS Ambassador

RAIN has engaged in efforts to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS in some Asian countries including Singapore and will be highlighting the plight of orphans and vulnerable children affected by AIDS for his RAIN 06/07 World Tour.

Rain said: "I agreed to take up this challenge as I heard about the HIV/AIDS reality that 8,000 children are orphaned by AIDS everyday and over 14 million children have lost parents to AIDS every year. Devastation caused by HIV epidemic in Africa during 1990’s could be revived here in Asia soon unless we intervene swiftly".

Jerry Yan (言承旭) - World Vision Asia Regional Child Sponsorship Ambassador

"This trip [Mongolia trip] has been a revelation for me. I used to complain about life, but compared to the suffering and courage of the children and their families, my problems seems so small. Every night at the end of the day's itinerary, I ask myself, what can I do to make a difference?"

Eunice Olsen - World Vision Singapore Goodwill Ambassador 2006

"Our youth are very empowered... they can do a lot for the region, but involvement is something that we can't enforce. We can only educate them about what's going on. The rest is really up to them."

Joi Chua (蔡淳佳)- World Vision Singapore Goodwill Ambassador 2006

"What comes across most strongly for me in this [Cambodia media trip] is how poverty strips people off of their dignity and the sense of value for things that are most precious to them. It's not difficult to realize how fortunate we are in comparison and having the ability to reach out and help them."
