Typhoon Morakot: One month on

One month has passed since Typhoon Morakot brought devastating floods and mudslides to Taiwan, claiming 614 lives and displacing thousands.

Today, 75 people remain missing and economic losses, especially for the agricultural industry, are estimated to be over NT$16.4 billion.
As of September 8, World Vision Taiwan has received cash donations of NT$676,221,080 and gifts-in-kind from individuals, corporations and other donor countries for World Vision's Typhoon Morakot Response Programme.

A total of 259 corporations and groups have made contributions, of which 75 corporations and their employees gave cash, 164 donated gifts-in-kind and 20 provided channels for promoting the appeal.

Since the immediate aftermath of the typhoon, World Vision relief staff and volunteers have responded in haste and worked tirelessly around the clock. We want to express our thanks and heartfelt gratitude for their initiative and dedication to help those in need.

To our donors and corporate partners, our work would not be possible without your generous support and financial gifts. We will continue to bring relief and recovery to those affected by Typhoon Morakot with effectiveness and accountability.

Our condolences and prayers are with the children and families who lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods during the storm.

World Vision's message for them is simple: You are not alone.

We invite all those who are able to continue their support for Typhoon Morakot survivors and partner with us to help them rebuild their homes and lives.
