MONGOLIA SNOWSTORM RELIEF

Since early January 2010, Mongolia has experienced a devastating blizzard locally dubbed “Zud”, which has blanketed 90% of the country. Temperatures have dropped to -50 degree Celcius and at least 2.7 million livestock have frozen or starved to death.

Because livestock is the main source of food and income for Mongolians, the livelihoods of 21,000 households hang by a thread. Those heavily affected by this disaster includes the sponsored children and families living in one of World Vision’s Area Development Programmes (ADPs) - Uvurkhangai ADP.

The total funds needed for the Zud response is estimated at S$1,223,737. The children and families cannot wait for funds to come in and World Vision is utilising reserve funds for immediate relief. Please extend relief assistance during this time of critical and urgent need.
