How Your Donation is Used

We are grateful that you support World Vision and give generously because you believe that your donation is used wisely, is accounted for, and channelled to benefit children and families living in poverty.

World Vision is accountable to those whom we serve, to their communities, to our donors, and to our staff. As a Christian organisation, we are also accountable to God.

For financial accountability, we are audited by external and independent auditors i.e. Lo Hock Ling & Co. Certified Public Accountants for the Singapore office. In FY2008, 80% of the donations received were disbursed to support 16 Area Development Programmes in 14 countries. Of the remaining 20%, (i) 12% is used for communication with our donors and public education, (ii) 8% for administration. Full details can be found at our Annual Report.

A portion of all contributions to World Vision International goes to administrative costs and public awareness programmes.

Administrative costs include finance and accounting functions, informational technology for better efficiency, postal services, telecommunication, human resources, legal and risk management, and fixed office overheads.

Public awareness programmes include marketing, creative services and publishing to draw attention to our poverty alleviation activities.

The Singapore Government allows registered charities to deduct a maximum of 30% of all donations for administrative costs. World Vision International's stewardship mandate is that administrative and public awareness costs should not exceed 20% of all donations received.

Our current administrative cost stands at about 8% and public education and communications costs are about 12%. For more details, please refer to our Annual Report.
