Looking at God’s Handiwork

Adam Bricker, Chief Information Office, World Vision International

I sometimes wonder if people really have the eyes, ears and touch for God’s existence in this world. The senses can be deceived in so many ways; we are so very dependent on the perspective with which we ‘sense’. Are our senses really attuned to God’s handiwork of both small and large miracles?

I have the greatest job in the world, serving where I am called, applying my God-given talents and working with people faithful to God in building his kingdom. At World Vision, I am even paid to watch God’s handiwork each and every day!

When I open my eyes, I watch God bless our ministry with resources and see colleagues performing extraordinary feats through the Holy Spirit. They listen to words of clearly divine inspiration and touch people who have strength and energy that could only be born in acceptance of God’s amazing grace.

For those who find it difficult to ‘see’ God in their lives, I recommend reflecting on how the eye is easily tricked. We sometimes do not even see the obvious things right in front of us. If you have the right perspective, you ‘see’ different things.

I pray that during this season, you will open your heart and have the kind of season where you apply all your senses to witnessing God’s amazing works.

‘But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.’ - James 2:18
