Join the Rain Appeal: Stop the deaths, befriend a HIV/AIDS orphan

More than 3 million people died in 2005 due to AIDS.
Almost 40 million people live with HIV.
HIV/AIDS orphans number more than 6,000 children everyday.

Through his song, "Friends", Rain hopes to raise awareness on the tragedy of HIV/AIDS and appeal to you to join him befriend these HIV/AIDS orphans and give them hope for a better tomorrow.

HIV/AIDS Orphans Need Your Help

Some 15 million children worldwide under age 18 have already lost either one or both of their parents to HIV/AIDS.

Born in impoverished conditions with barely enough to eat, children living in high HIV/AIDS-prevalent communities face incredible challenges. Many are raised by their extended families that can include 10 or more adopted siblings. Those without living relatives do their best to survive on their own.

Please Help these Children NOW.

Bongani Jere, 5, lives in a community severely affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis. Jere stays with his aunt, Ruthie Nkhoma, his mother died from AIDS in 2005 and his father has abandoned him. Like his mother, Jere is HIV positive. World Vision is providing Jere with antiretroviral medication to help him cope with the disease.

"Would you join me to be a Friend to these HIV/AIDS orphans?" - Rain

Ethiopia and Lesotho are two of the hardest-hit countries by the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa.

Ethiopia ranks the third largest HIV-positive population in the world.

How can I help:

When you sponsor a child from these HIV/AIDS high-prevalence communities, your Child Sponsorship of $45 per month will help provide the child with nutritious food, access to clean water, healthcare, education and also the opportunity to break the poverty cycle.

In addition, your support will also help to lessen the impact of HIV/AIDS through:

  • Provision of immune boosters to strengthen the immune systems of the infected children and families in the community;
  • Supply of antiretroviral medication to those infected;
  • Special medical care to orphans and vulnerable children;
  • Trained volunteers and caregivers to look after children’s needs when their parents become incapable in supporting the family;
  • Educational materials to teach children about HIV/AIDS prevention; and
  • Vocational training for older children to help them find proper jobs with stable income to support the family.

To sponsor a child living in a HIV/AIDS prevalent community for $45 a month or to give a one-time/monthly donation, simply complete this form and fax back to us at 6221-1390.
