FY2009 Financial Highlights

In FY2009, World Vision Singapore with the strong support of our child sponsors and donors continued to post another blessed year of giving and service to needy children and their families in Asia and Africa.

Income

World Vision Singapore is committed to tackling the root causes of poverty, alleviating the suffering of the poor and enabling children to have fullness of life as its mission and vision. We are thankful to God for growing World Vision Singapore’s income in FY2009 (October 2008 to September 2009) from $10,349,334 in FY2008 to $10,780,017.

The income growth enabled the organisation to help some 28,925 children and benefited more than 1,608,875 people in the developing countries.

Expenditure

In line with our mandate and accountability to our supporters to keep expenses low so that more can be provided to assist the impoverished communities, the total expenditure of our office for FY2009 comprising administration, communication and public information was $1,995,859 or 18.5% of total donations. This was lower than the 19.7% expenditure over donations in FY2008.

Gifts-in-Kind

FY2009 also registered World Vision Singapore’s Gifts-in-Kind (GIK) donated goods worth $849,816, an increase over FY2008 value of $345,099, to the needy communities assisted by our organisation.

Disaster Relief

World Vision Singapore continued to be involved in emergency relief and rehabilitation efforts to aid homeless families and vulnerable children in countries in Asia and Africa affected by natural disasters and catastrophes. Through our child sponsors and donors, we sent $605,779, with the remaining $66,119 to be sent in the following year, amounting to the full 100% donations received.
