Defend the cause of the fatherless...”

Does your church have a heart for the poor? Sunday collections and the occasional talk are blessings for both your congregation and the impoverished communities you wish to serve. But perhaps there is a more hands-on way to engage the hearts and minds of your church?

An estimated 1.2 million children are trafficked each year. They are tricked, kidnapped, lured and sent into slavery or the sex industry. 20 million children have been forced to flee their homes because of conflict.

These children are vulnerable and precious in the eyes of God. As Christ says in Luke 9: 48: “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me.” Would you like the chance to welcome a child into the fullness of life?

World Vision supports and works with some of these children for rehabilitation through shelters and child-friendly spaces that provide care and assistance. World Vision provides “Kids Kits” which help children through their rehabilitation, giving them an opportunity to learn, play and express their feelings.

World Vision aims to provide 100,000 “Kids Kits” from products donated by churches, organisations and companies in Singapore to enable vulnerable children to have the opportunity to lead a happy and healthy life.

We need your help…
to support children in crisis

Youth groups, cell groups and whole churches can take this simple project on. Just print out the following shopping list and buy the necessary items. Gather together as a group to pack each bag-it’s an easy but meaningful activity for a time of fellowship and service to the poor.

Each Kids Kit MUST contain the following NEW items (not used) in the stated quantities:

  • One school bag (pack the rest of the items in the school bag to form a Kid Kit)

  • One package (8 count) wooden pencils without designs

  • One package (8 count) ballpoint pens—blue or black ink

  • Two 6 x 9-inch notebooks

  • One pencil sharpener

  • One large ink eraser

  • One 12-inch ruler with metric measurements

  • One package (12 count) regular-size crayons

  • One package (12 count) regular-size colour pencils

  • A greeting card signed by YOU! (Greeting Card Enclosed)

Each completed Kids Kit must be given to a designated Project Coordinator you nominate, together with $5.00 cash for shipment for each kit. To take part, we ask that you commit to a minimum of 100 kits. Our next collection date will be in August 2007.

Kids Kits are part of World Vision’s Gifts-In-Kind (GIK) programme, a conduit through which you can help poor children and families in tangible ways by engaging your church to supply useful gifts that meet the urgent and specific needs of a community. To help, please complete the Donate School Supplies form, new page for kids kits.pdf - and fax to 6221-1390, or email kristina@worldvision.org.sg.

What are Gifts-In-Kind?
GIK can be classified as high-quality, excess inventory in large quantities donated from corporates, manufacturers and wholesalers to assist those in need. GIK are NOT used goods. The donor covers the freight costs and World Vision facilitates the shipment and distribution processes

World Vision's Corporate Philanthropy program (Gifts-in-Kind) accepts only large volumes of gift-in-kind product from corporations and private donors. We do not accept used products and donations from individual donors. Thank You!
