When health centers lack such supplies, the nurses may have to resort to handmade bamboo sticks instead of scalpels, and reusing syringes. Millions of children around the world die every year from diseases that could easily be prevented if they had the medical resources. In the face of such problems, World Vision trains village health workers around the world to care for their villages. However, first aid supplies and pharmaceuticals are necessary for this care to happen.
