The life of Sarangerel and her family took a turn for the better when her child became a sponsored child under World Vision and when they received clothing from World Vision Singapore through the Daimler Chrysler Gift-In-Kind (GIK) program. Sarangerel also received a loan from the ADP so that she could start a shoe shop.

“World Vision gave school stationery and clothing to us which was a tremendous encouragement for the children to study,” said a happy Sarangerel.

Sarangerel is an enthusiastic employee and entrepreneur who participated in the six-step business training, which enabled her to receive a loan so that she could start selling shoes. She works as a money collector by going to the apartment owners and collecting their monthly payment for the central heating system.

Sarangerel also took part in the health trainings and has subsequently become a health volunteer mother where she trains other mothers on child nutrition.

“If World Vision did not help me I would be collecting cans and bottles with my children and I would be so depressed about my life,” said Sarangerel. “With World Vision’s help I have been tremendously encouraged to carry on,” she said with a smile. “As a result, the life of my family has improved and I have become optimistic about the future,” she added.

Sarangerel shares the jacket she received from World Vision with her fifteen year old son, Enkhtor. The winter clothing makes it possible for Enkhtor to keep warm while he goes to school and when he prepares the firewood outside. Enkhtor is an active sportsman and enjoys skating on the ice and playing basketball and volleyball in the gymnasium at school. He also likes summer and spends time with his grandparents and shepherds their livestock.  Although rather shy, Enkhtor is very obedient and a tremendous help at home, making meals, cleaning the house and chopping up the firewood.

Enkhtor believes that a happy family is one if there are many members in the family and that everyone gets on well with each other.

“If am warm I am happy and I have peace. If I am cold I don’t feel peace, life is difficult and I get sick. When I am cold, I fear getting pneumonia; the frozen skin peels off after a few days. When I am cold, I run too keep warm or play basket ball,” said Enkhtor.

“If I see other children playing in the snow with winter jackets on and I cannot because I don’t have one then I think to myself, those children look so warm I want to be like them” said Enkhtor.

“If I did not get this warm jacket, I will not be able to go to school or prepare firewood nor will I be able to collect water from the deep water well,” admitted Enkhtor.

Enkhtor’s previous winter jacket got too small and his parents could not afford to replace it. Enkhtor can go to school now because he received a warm jacket from WV. I am very grateful to WV for giving us this jacket, said Enkhtor.
