GIK for disaster relief

World Vision staff ensures all relief items are accounted for by taking down details of each villager that come forward to collect their relief items.

Within 48 hours, World Vision responded to those impacted by Asia Tsunami by providing emergency supplies out of its Dallas Storehouse for use by partner agencies helping affected families, and sending shipments of needed supplies that have been donated by generous corporations. Emergency supplies include items such as water containers, clothing, cups, toilet paper, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes and toys and games for children.

World Vision deployed an assessment team, comprised of international disaster relief specialists, in the region to determine needs and identify local partners shortly after the Asia Tsunami. The work of our assessment teams ensures our ongoing response is relevant and appropriate to the needs of the evacuees. We fully plan to expand our relief efforts to serve those affected by disasters by providing needed supplies donated by socially responsible corporations.
