“Beyond Borders” is a philanthropic program that aims to improve the
lives of underprivileged children in
the region through the provision of
basic needs like safe drinking water,
sanitation,food, shelter and education.

More than 33,000 students from 21 schools will have the opportunity to lend a helping hand to children in need in Asia through Beyond Borders, a community program by Procter & Gamble (P&G) and World Vision Singapore. To commemorate International Youth Day, the programme will be launched at Nan Chiau Primary School on August 11 2006.

Extending the program the fund-raising objective, Beyond Borders aims to instill in Singaporean children a civic consciousness that goes beyond borders by helping them give to the needy children in the region in small but meaningful ways. This will be achieved through an intensive educational roadshow that includes assembly talks and exhibitions at the schools involved in the program. The program also aims to help Singaporean youths appreciate their easy access to education compared to the challenging situations facing their less fortunate counterparts in developing countries. Most importantly, Beyond Borders aims to help Singapore children give in small but meaningful ways.

Through the program, children from countries such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar, will be given the opportunity for a better life.  The funds raised from the program will go towards initiatives such as the construction and renovation of educational facilities, the provision of teaching materials and support for students in the form of tuition fees.
